Do You Know the First Five Netbooks?

Oh, how time flies. Did you know that in under two years, there have been 22 netbooks released in the market? That is approximately one netbook every month since Asus created this computer category with its Eee Pc line.

The netbook was initially released as an affordable and straightforward laptop solution for students. Since then, the world has been mighty models by major Pc manufactures, releasing models that are sometimes as mighty as regular computers. So from straightforward and expensive, mini laptops now span the horizon of powerful, high-priced and even luxurious.

Netbook Linux

In terms of pre-installed operating system, Windows Xp dominates the shop over Linux, although the very first netbook was in effect shipped with a Linux. So, do you know the first five netbooks that were ever released in the market?

1. Asus Eee Pc 701 4G

This Eee Pc model was the very first mini laptop model that was every released. It ran on a modified version of Xandros Linux. For what it is worth, the Asus Eee Pc 701 4G has only 4Gb Ssd storehouse space, a small 7-inch screen, 512Mb of Ram and an Intel Celeron M processor. Not surprisingly, it is currently the cheapest netbook in the market.

2. Asus Eee Pc 900

The Asus Eee Pc 900 is bigger than the Asus Eee Pc 701 4G with its 8.9-inch screen. It also had more storehouse capacity and Ram and was available in both Windows Xp and Linux versions. Since the Linux version has more storehouse space in its Solid State Drive, it is more high-priced than the Windows version.

3. Hp 2133 Mini-Note Pc

Hewlett Packard was the next computer maker to introduce a netbook with its 2133 Mini-Note. The Mini Note was totally dissimilar from the Eee Pc in that it targeted company users, not students. With 8.9 inch screen, it was bigger than the Eee Pc in terms of features: 2Gb of Ram, 160Gb of hard drive space, and Windows Vista company Operating System. With its ExpressCard/54 slot, it was inherent to use with a 3G data card.

4. Asus Eee Pc 701 4G (Lush Green)

Before other manufacturers could issue their own netbooks, Asus reined in by releasing a revised version of its very first mini computer. Interestingly, it was made available in some colors, including lush green.

5. Asus Eee Pc 901

After some revisions to its customary model, Asus then soon released a new model: the Eee Pc 901. It had a sleeker build than the Eee Pc 900 but was heavier. However, since it had six-cell batteries, it was in effect at that time, the ideal gadget for on-the-road travelers. It has an 8.9-inch screen, 1Gb of Ram, and is pre-installed with whether Linux or Windows Xp.
